Microsoft Apps Will Be Preinstalled On Cyanogen Android Devices
Cyanogen android company revealed that it will pre-install Microsoft apps on its modded Android OS later this year, including Bing, Skype, OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook and Microsoft Office. It was rumored that Redmond had purchased a minority stake in Cyanogen with the express intention of bundling its software. Microsoft will also create “native integrations” on Cyanogen OS, to make all its apps play well together.
“People around the world use Cyanogen’s operating system and popular Microsoft services to engage with what matters most to them on their mobile devices,” said Kirt McMaster, CEO of Cyanogen Inc. “This exciting partnership with Microsoft will enable us to bring new kinds of integrated services to mobile users in markets around the world.” Microsoft says it will “continue to deliver world-class experiences across productivity and communications on Windows, and we’re delighted that Cyanogen users will soon be able to take advantage of those same powerful services.”
It is important to know that Cyanogen Inc. is separate from the open source CyanogenMod project, and the latter made it clear in a blog post that its releases will not be including Microsoft apps, or other features announced for the commercial version.
